Construction to Begin on Highway 67 Bridge at Pocahontas

The Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department has notified the Randolph County Chamber of Commerce that beginning Tuesday, June 21st repair work will begin on the southbound lane of Highway 67 on the bridge.

Traffic will be one lane only for one to two weeks. Then beginning Tuesday, July 5th work will begin on the old northbound bridge which will entail demolition of the current bridge and building a new structure.

Traffic flow will change especially northbound…motorists going thru the traffic light at McDonald’s will move over to the left lane and follow the signs through the intersection of Highway 67 & Hwy 62.

Remember, for about 2 weeks as of June 21st, southbound traffic wishing to go toward East Pocahontas must use the left lane, while the right lane traffic will be for right turns only from Broadway to the Highway 62 turn.

A completion date has not been set but it is believed to take 18 to 24 months to build the new bridge.
