The four counties that make up the Northeast Arkansas Intermodal area are in close proximity to both the geographic and population centers of the United States. In fact, we’re within a day’s drive from 40% of the country’s population.
We’re centrally located in a continental transportation network that includes rail lines, multiple airports, and ports to ship and receive commodities. Our counties are also hubs for manufacturing and agribusiness, thanks not only to our prime location, but also to a strong workforce and talent pipeline supported by business-focused education providers.
The Northeast Arkansas Intermodal area, home to more than 67,000 people, is geographically and demographically diverse, with both the resources and the people to support companies in industries as varied as agribusiness, manufacturing, transportation/logistics, gunsmithing/ammunition, and commercial sectors.
Through the Northeast Arkansas Regional Intermodal Facilities Authority, Lawrence, Randolph, Sharp, and Clay Counties have joined together to promote the region’s assets and leverage our combined resources to support companies that are eager to grow and prosper. We invite you to learn more about how Northeast Arkansas can help your company thrive!

The Northeast Arkansas Regional Intermodal Facilities Authority (NEA Intermodal) is a quasi-government public entity created in September 2009 by the Arkansas State Legislature to develop industrial sites and acquire, equip, construct, maintain and operate regional freight transportation facilities. Since its creation through Act 690, the NEA Intermodal has expanded to serve Clay, Lawrence, Randolph, and Sharp Counties.
Our mission is to create more and better employment opportunities for our region through the recruitment, expansion, and retention of industry and business in each of our partnering entities. We believe the region must present a unified front of community, business, government, and civic leaders, and that it is essential that we be a leader by designing, implementing, and managing a program to foster cooperation and collaboration among these entities.
